Will my dog ever be ok after a slip disc if she wags her tail and moves her back legs every now and

I came home from work to find my daushound meetin me at the door dragging her hind legs. I took her to the dog emergency clinic and they said it could be a slipped disc, the ER wanted xays. I can%26#039;t afford it, single mom and all. I took her to her vet the next day and he said slipped disc. I told him my financial situation and he said he could do the xray but there was no point. He gave her predosone and a pain pill. I noticed after 2 days of NO movement she wags her tail or kicks her legs every now and then. The surgery is VERY expensive and I don%26#039;t qualify for Care Credit. Income tax isn%26#039;t for another 6-7 months. Ihave tried loans from family..I tried EVERYTHING! SPCA was no help. PLEASE let me know of any organization, Vet Clinic, anything I can do to make her comfortable and back to herself. please.

Slipped discs are very painful and may or may not get better on it%26#039;s own. I hate to tell you this as it seems you care for your dog very much, but just wagging her tail doesn%26#039;t mean she isn%26#039;t suffering.

Call around to other vets because many will offer payment plans and it sounds like your current vet isn%26#039;t being very helpful in that area. Some vets will even allow you to work off some of the fee by cleaning the hospital or doing yard care, so maybe that is an option.

In the meantime, keep him comfortable and make sure you get pain meds from the vet. I had a slipped disc and it hurt more than I would ever wish on someone I hated, let alone a poor dog, so do what you gotta do to keep him medicated.

Good luck!!!!

Her muscles will begin to waste if there is no movement. All sorts of difficulties come from that. Investigate as much as you can - all possibilities to get help. Perhaps the vet will put you on a payment plan. There are plenty of benevolent vets out there, hopefully in your general area. Keep searching.
