My dog needs specialized medical attention that I cannot afford. Any suggestions?

He can still have a good quality of life without the procedures, it just won%26#039;t fit into my pace of life. I have been to a neurologist, but it is going to be around $2000 just for a diagnosis. I am familiar with care credit, but i can%26#039;t afford to spend that much, even if I am paying it over time. PLEASE HELP --

Take him to the clinic run by the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in your city. They provide free medicare - and will do the best they can for your doggie.

...Kitty will also pray that he get well, soon.

All I can suggest is to try to find a veterinary college near you. Perhaps if your dog%26#039;s illness is unique enough, they%26#039;ll diagnose and treat him for free as a training tool.

Good luck!

I know exactly how you feel. If the problem will cause him to be in pain, then you know what has to be done. It will be painful for you but you won%26#039;t make him suffer. Try to get him to a few different vets. Sometimes they can provide you with new ideas. My Mom had a white German Shepard with a cancerous tumor in her stomach. The surgery and chemotherapy would cost over ten thousand dollars. She took her to a few different vets and most of them said the same thing. And the worst part was even with the surgery, it would only extend her life by another 3-5 years. (The dog was only 5.) My Mom finally found a vet that offered her a different solution and put her on steroids and pain medication. Her dog was only supposed to live another 3-4 months. With the medication, she lived 14 months. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for our pets. If possible, change your pace of life, or at least rearrange things. Maybe friends or family could help. But don%26#039;t take the word of 1 vet. Get a few different opinions. Somebody said go to a college. That sometimes works but if it%26#039;s something serious, I wouldn%26#039;t trust a rookie. Good Luck and I wish you all the best.

I would call several shelters and rescue organizations, see if they can help. I have not heard of anyone being helped by a vet school, yes they may take the dog and treat it, but most require you give them the dog, they don%26#039;t return it. If none of these ideas work, focus on making your dog comfortable. Talk to your vet about pain meds and other things you can do. Sometimes just a change of diet will help. Don%26#039;t feel too bad, I know PEOPLE who did not go through medical procedures so they could spare their family the expense.

See if your vet will offer you a payment plan.
