Does it aggravate you when companies encourage you to do all of your business online (to save THEM the cost of paper, postage and handling), and then throw an impossible number of hurdles at you to keep you out of your own account?

My latest hassle is caused by my using a different PC than last time. Naturally, since I%26#039;m using the Library%26#039;s system! And they refuse to give me an access code by email, only by phone--to my office! On the weekend! I know they%26#039;re trying to protect my account, but this seems like technological overkill. All they have to do is ask the other security questions.

Oh, and you can%26#039;t contact them to complain unless you can log in!

Not all are like this, some only care what the account number is and where the money is coming from.

I check my online bills at least weekly and pay as I go because there is never a guarantee the ISP won%26#039;t be done, their site won%26#039;t be hacked, or there would be a power outage.

Some onlines will also let you link to a bank account where they will just pull it all out on the due date--have used that feature in the past as well.

The laws don%26#039;t favor them if they let someone access your accounts, so they do this to protect themselves and you%26#039;ll always %26quot;pay%26quot; for the convenience of online pay. You could cut them a check--and if it%26#039;s issued by a huge place like Chase, you can go to your local affiliate with cash or check and the account info and pay them in person.

I really dont have any problem paying my mortgage, car loan, and one credit card through online. I have been doing this for 5 years now, save me some time and stamps, and I transfered some money to savings I do that online too but every transaction there%26#039;s either confirmation number, and don%26#039;t forget to print a receipt after you made every transaction. Put it in your file and save it in case you need it or if you need to ask question, just give transaction or confirmation number. If for some reason they will not give you these details (which is very rare for online payment), still print the payment site and whatever information there.

I can set up recurring payments for things like mortgage, cable and phone. I can schedule payments in advance. Yet, I can change or cancel any payment up to two days before the due date.

The best time to get help would have been in the past. However, many can help you. Be sure to research the company -- make sure they have been around and are non-profit.

Some places will give you a loan and you pay the loan. Others will just help you with your payments. You may want to look for one that will give you a loan since you just finished school and have a large amount due immediately.

Talk to the rep, but don%26#039;t sign anything until you do some research on the company (or do the research first. )

Can they sue..Yes. Will they sue at 2 1/2 months, probably not. There is the Statute of Limitations that they have to file a suit against you. For PA this is 4 years from the date of last delinquency. Most companies will wait until you get close to that before they sue.

At 2.5 months the account is probably still with the original creditor, although not for much longer. Most creditors will charge-off the account at 90 days. If it is you will want to try and get it worked out before they charge-off the account. If you can%26#039;t right now, then when they charge-off the account it will go to an outside collection agency which will be a lot worse to deal with.

Once you deal with an outside collection agency, do it in writing only. Never talk to these people over the phone. If you can pay off the balance you need to send them an offer to pay the balance in full, IF they remove the collection account from your report. In the offer write the payment amounts and dates you can make the payments. Be sure to have this in writing from them that they approve it before you send any money.

They do not have the right to harass you or threaten you. With that said if they just said they are from %26quot;pre-legal%26quot;, that is probably not what would technically be considered a threat. Unless they followed it up by more specific things such as threatening jail time or other things that they are not allowed to do or say. Be prepared to come up with an aggressive payment plan and be sure to keep it because I can tell you --- I%26#039;ll work with them but if they lie to me Im done with em.

Keep in mind - yes, it cost them $ to take legal action but I am sure they have a good agreement with their attorney...Once they have a jugment against you (and they will get one) they can just help themselves to you cash among many other things.

They say they can sue, but I have never seen it happen. If you pay on the credit card before it goes to legal which is a very misleading term. What they mean when they say legal is %26quot;Collections%26quot;.

Once your credit card goes to legal/collections it stops accruing interest. If you pay on it before that time it is like spinning your wheels. I have a neighbor who has paid $50 a month for 18 years on a credit card and the balance is now about $1,000 more than when she started.

I finally talked her into letting it go to legal/collections so now she is actually paying on the debt. If you can pay your credit card you need to do so.

The judgement came from when he was in basic training and he left his rent money with his roommate. The roommate stole the money and abandoned the apartment. price transparency

Especially in the age of the Internet there is NO legitimate reason whatsoever that these prices are not available to the public.

For the silly who will say %26quot;there are all kinds of procedures,%26quot; here%26#039;s the deal, MEDICARE has a complete listing. They%26#039;ve made sure to complicate it so a regular person can%26#039;t access their database, but they have predetermined for no matter what STUPID CPT codes are used, what they will pay for the procedure. So clearly such a database CAN exist because it DOES exist and don%26#039;t let anyone tell you it can%26#039;t be done. Furthermore, the provider has to have the codes to file insurance OR just bill the uninsured, so they could absolutely tell you in advance what codes are being used. Bam goes that red herring argument I%26#039;ve heard before.

Now the real reason they don%26#039;t want the public to see this database is because of the UNFAIR pricing systems used. IT ALL depends on who your insurer is what you will pay--and if patients saw that many times they pay MORE than the company does they%26#039;d shriek bloody murder. If you saw what they have the NERVE to charge the uninsured, you would pass out.

Now a lot of folks will say %26quot;I work in medical billing and the insured pay for the uninsured.%26quot; Not really.

In Who Killed Health Care?, Regina Herzlinger gives another frightening example of what too many hospitals are about: profit. She recalls being at a meeting for congressional legislative assistants about the creation of small, specialty hospitals to treat a particular health area, such as heart disease. The hospital was to be 鈥減artially owned and managed by doctors.鈥?She notes that hospitals account for the bulk of costs and increases in costs of health care, but the established general hospitals saw the creation of specialty hospitals as an economic threat, so they went to Congress to disallow such hospitals from existing. The hospitals were represented primarily by the CEO of a 鈥渃hain of 24 non-profit hospitals鈥?who stated that such a specialty hospital would interfere with the billion-dollar non-profit鈥檚 ability to provide free and subsidized care to the poor and sick in that region. Supposedly the best-paying patients were being lured away from his chain to the 55-bed specialty hospital. Congress listened and instituted a 鈥渕oratorium on the expansion of specialty hospitals.鈥?

Herzlinger then looks at the facts. In 2003, while battling the small hospital, the non-profit earned $26 million in profits and had $50 million in liquid assets鈥攁fter all expenses and charity care were deducted. In 2004, after Congress acted, the hospital had their profits and liquid assets increase 15 percent and saw fit to do things such as donate $200,000 to the local high school football league. However, the hospital鈥檚 charity care fell by 40 percent and profits increased. By 2005, the charity care was down to $3 million. By being considered as a non-profit, they had avoided 鈥渢ens of millions of dollars in taxes.鈥?The way they determined their charity care was also questionable. They listed the prices they鈥檇 charge the uninsured as what they were providing for free as well as declaring that the difference between the uninsured prices and what they did receive for Medicare and Medicaid were charity care as well. Herzlinger also notes that part of what the Congress was willing to fight, and the hospitals wanted them to fight, was that price transparency where patients would be told the truth before any procedures about costs so they could comparison shop (4-6).

Rooney has made helping people get out from under debt due to lack of health insurance a major focus of his Fairness Foundation. 鈥淲e鈥檝e done a lot of crusading on this and we鈥檝e been very successful,鈥?he says. 鈥淢y opinion is that when [hospitals] are confronted with a well-informed patient that says it鈥檚 an unreasonable bill [the hospitals鈥橾 alternative is to sue them and I believe they don鈥檛 want to be in court on this issue when they鈥檙e charging three times as much.鈥?br>

Rooney has found that hospitals have made a common practice of charging 3.5 times what Medicare will pay for services. While Rooney acknowledges that hospitals may need to charge more than Medicare will pay, he contends that authoritative research shows that Medicare plus 25 percent is the reasonable amount for hospitals to charge.

But hospitals are notorious for their lack of transparency when it comes to revealing what their costs actually are. 鈥淒an Evans, the head of Clarian, testified before the Senate Finance Committee two or three weeks ago,鈥?Rooney says. 鈥淗e said [transparency] could be done but it鈥檚 so complicated it鈥檚 not worthwhile and we don鈥檛 want to do it.鈥?But, Rooney adds, a health care system in Milwaukee, Wheaton Franciscan, has recently signed a contract in which it agrees to disclose what it will charge for 29 common hospital procedures.

The prevalent lack of transparency in hospitals, combined with the fact that people who are sick or injured are often unable to be their own best advocates, places patients in a particularly vulnerable position. Rooney also sees the higher prices being charged to the uninsured as a potential civil rights issue. 鈥淚 am concerned about the minority people. I don鈥檛 want to see them screwed. Nationally, 35 percent of Hispanics are uninsured; 22 percent of African-Americans are uninsured; and 11 percent of non-Hispanic Caucasians are uninsured. So when you鈥檙e doubling, tripling, multiplying the price by five times, you鈥檙e doing it mainly to minority people,鈥?Rooney says. 鈥淚 consider that racial discrimination.鈥?br>

In Maryland, what hospitals charge is now regulated by law. Rooney points out that Maryland鈥檚 Johns Hopkins Hospital is considered one of the nation鈥檚 best and manages to operate with a cost-to-charge ratio of 81 cents to the dollar. 鈥淭hey make a lot of money and they鈥檙e not gouging people,鈥?he says. He would like to see the governor take the lead on the regulatory issue in Indiana.%26quot;

Once they have cashed the check you%26#039;ll have proof that they have accepted payment in full and you%26#039;ll legally be in the right situation. They may still fail to take the information off your credit report, but you will have the proof that it has been paid and you can file a dispute with the three credit bureaus AND send them copies of your letter, canceled check, and return receipt and they will HAVE to make it satisfied on your credit report even if the company doesn%26#039;t take the time or effort to file the correction.

I am a personality that depresses rather than making waves. Bad on me, but I find that speaking up does just as much harm to them, as they may be doing to me. Not worth it. I believe in the Golden Rule, so I try to be as kind as possible. Ironically, right now I have been crying for 2 days over something my son and daughter did to me, but since they have rights as adults, I cannot change them. The hurt will heal, and I truly believe they did not do what they did on purpose....just a divorced family siutation and no winners anywhere. I choose my battles, and this isn%26#039;t one of them.

And probably, just as I did with many others, after I am dead, they will understand that their perspective and mine were different, and I truly was a good person. Too late. 1. A motel where I stayed once is listed as a former address of mine and as a single family home. I do not think that it was ever my legal address. I know that it was not a single family home.

2. In the list of names and name identification numbers, they have listed the same name with no middle initial or middle name, with a middle initial, with a full middle name, and again with no middle initial or middle name. Each of these has a separate name identification number. There are four unique numbers, but only three unique names (and only one unique first and last name).

A. Is any of this important enough to bother disputing?

B. Do creditors care about the number of names and/or the number of addresses on my report?

As a Banker, yes you should clear this up to reflect your present address and legal names. It only gives a creditor a reason to deny a loan if there are disputed facts on the report.

Actually contrary to the show she does write some of her own songs and helps her dad write them. I just broke into my next door neighbor house. I stold their social security because she has good credit and mine is bad so I will use hers instead to get my life back on track. Illegals draw welfare by stealing people%26#039;s social security numbers and identities. That means there are a lot of people being directly hurt by these people as well. Innocent people are having their credit ratings ruined, having IRS problems, and social security problems. If someone who has had their social security number stolen gets married, if either spouse dies or become disabled then they can be denied their benefits.

We close 35% of all the prisons in America.

We get rid of at least a quarter of all the judges and lawyers in America.

Hundreds of hospitals, closed because of legally-required free health care for illegals, reopen their doors and, when we need an Emergency Room, one is available with no waiting line composed of sniffling Meskins.

Uninsured auto accidents fall to next to nothing.

Our kids get part-time and summer jobs.

Kennedy and McCain get run out of town on a rail.

We don%26#039;t experience hostility and surliness with every encounter of a gardener, service station attendant or simply standing in line at the post office.

America%26#039;s level of formerly eradicated diseases, like leprosy and Bubonic Plague, again subsides to nothing.

Since I can%26#039;t just send you a little message: my reaction to what you wrote as an answer for my question.

I do know what I%26#039;m talking about. I%26#039;ve gone the legal route to live and work in America. I%26#039;m in my own country again now, but I%26#039;ll be moving to America again this summer, once again going the full legal route. I%26#039;ve known plenty of illegal immigrants personally and I%26#039;m speaking from their expirience. I get the feeling you don%26#039;t know any personally yourself.
