Human Society said my kittens leg is broken by the elbow joint.Surgery may not be a sucess. What shou

Michigan Humane Society Took X-rays on my kittens leg. They said my kittens elbow may not function well after surgery as an option. He walks and hops but not that much in pain. They said it my be better to amputat the leg. I dont want to see him hoppin on 3 legs. But he could still be alive. Care credit will allow me $500. Surgery will be about up to $2000. Or about $1000 for amputation. What should I do next. I have no money for this action. If I take it in to Humane Society the will put it to sleep (youthinize it). I wouldnt want that. Do you think I should get a second opinion? Anyone have a suggestions?

Give it sometime and see how it heals on its own. If its not in pain then wait and see.My shepherd was hit by a car (broken hip) and healed in weeks as good as new. worth a try!

I would seek aa second opinion.

I would get the amputation done and set up a payment plan. Most places will do that. OR you can get a short term loan for $500.

For them to charge $1000 for the amputation is WAY out of line! Granted my cat%26#039;s tail amputation was less complicated but was maybe one or two hundred dollars. Get a second opinion AND lots of cats do quite well on three legs. He is already walking and hopping on the other three legs so he will do just fine if he only has three permanently. It%26#039;s hard to see for you but he%26#039;ll still be a happy little kitty because you love him and take good care of him! Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

It may seem heartless, but I would put the cat to sleep.

(I live in the country and cats out here need to be able to fight, or else can%26#039;t go out and I couldn%26#039;t do that to kitty)
