Is it unusual for a landlord not to ask a section 8 tenant with bad credit to fill out an applicatio

I have terrible credit due to a recent divorce and heart attack. I%26#039;m on section 8, and the goverment pays the majority of my rent. I rented from my last landlord 5 years without any problem.

The new landlord says it%26#039;s not necessary for me to fill out an application because I%26#039;ve already told him my credit wouldn%26#039;t be impressive, and since my rent portion is so low, he doesn%26#039;t see the point. He only requires that I sign a lease, pay my rent portion on time, and take care of the property.

I%26#039;m thankful, but does this seem unusual? Maybe he is just being nice, and knows he won%26#039;t rent to me. He figures Housing would have a history of my behavior on the program, and/or complaints from other landlords if he needs them.

I don%26#039;t know what state your in, but I live in Camden, NEw Jersey. I have Section 8 and my landlord made be fill out a application too just to have for their record. It%26#039;s not unusual at all. I just mind my business do what I got to do. You start worrying if they tell you that you can%26#039;t get the apartment/house. GOOD LUCK!!

Like he said your credit really doesn%26#039;t have anything to do with renting from him because the majority of his money comes from the government.

Sounds like a good landlord. Since you%26#039;re not paying much of your rent, he obviously feels that you%26#039;re good for it. There%26#039;s no law that says a landlord MUST take an application.
