If I am just a card holder on a credit card and not a joint applicant am I responsible for the balan

My ex-wife had a credit card which she has not paid. I was Not a joint applicant on the account she got me an extra card when we were married which I never used. She used the card for some charges that are still on the account while we were married. Am I legally responsible for the account?

On other accounts my SS# was attached jointly and I took care of the balanaces on those. I don%26#039;t want to get stuck with this one as well if I am not responsible.

You shouldn%26#039;t be liable. The best thing is to ask your attorney, because she had the account in her name. When I got a dissolution, my attorney put everything in our papers on exactly who is to pay what bills. You really need to %26quot;cover your butt%26quot;, so to speak! Good luck!

No problem! And, to further my comment, make sure you follow up with the credit card company, send them a copy of your divorce papers if you have to, so that it doesn%26#039;t come back to bite you in the butt later!!! Report It

I think it depends on your state, actually. Chances are you%26#039;ll get stuck with it.
